Ukrainian soccer player given red card for headbutting own teammate
In SOCCER
Ukrainian football club Hoverla Uzhhorod might have some unresolved personnel issues, based solely on the fact that one of their players, Volodymyr Lysenko, received a red card in a recent match for an ill-advised headbutt. The real problem with Lysenko’s transgression is that the subject of his attack was none other than teammate Mirko Raicevic…

Miami Dolphins cheerleaders make jaw-dropping cover video for Taylor Swift’s “22”
The Miami Dolphins Cheerleaders recently released a video cover of Taylor Swifts pop hit “22”, and whether you are a Cheesehead like myself, or even if you call Foxborough home, believe me, there is something for everyone in this video.
Sure, I like good pop song playing in the background just as much as anyone else, but with all due respect to the Grammy-winning Ms. Swift, (that is no joke, she has won 7 of those little gramophones) I am going to assume that most men would rather watch the achingly hot Miami Dolphins Cheerleaders prance around on a beach than see her version of the video for this song.
Well enough out of me, let’s have a gander… Read more ›

This collision by three North Carolina players in foul territory is profoundly weird
In MLB
During Tuesday’s College World Series matchup between North Carolina and LSU, three Tarheels players converged on a fly ball in foul territory when, inexplicably, two of the players—shortstop Michael Russell and leftfielder Parks Jordan—go down in a heap, in one of the oddest collisions you will ever see.

Nike’s new LeBron X shoe has “2-Time Champion” printed on sockliner
In NBA
Nike let slip a few images of the new LeBron X shoe, which might be interesting to you if you’re something of a shoe aficionado, a LeBron James aficionado, or both. While the shoes may not attract much attention from the majority of people, there was something seen inside the Nike footwear, specifically something written on the sockliner, which provided quite a bit of fodder for bloggers and NBA conspiracy theorists alike. You see, printed on the sockliner, were the words “2-Time Champion” which probably wouldn’t have kicked up much of a fuss, except for one small problem—LeBron is, at the time the photos were leaked, still a one-time champion. What’s worse is that in the other sockliner the dates “11-12″ and “12-13″ are printed, meaning that someone at Nike shot their load a bit early in proclaiming the Heat NBA champions. Either that or the fix is in, as they say. Read more ›

This 360-degree GIF of Kate Upton in body paint wins the Internet forever (UPDATE: It’s gone)

Coming back to you now? Well here’s a 360-degree GIF of Upton in said “outfit” that will serve as a continuous reminder of all that is great and wonderful with the Internet…

Bob Kraft says Super Bowl ring “given” to Vladimir Putin actually stolen by Russian president
In NFL
You might have forgotten about it, but way back in 2005, Patriots owner Robert Kraft, and a group of assorted fellow businessmen, met with Russian president Vladimir Putin in St. Petersburg, Russia, in a meeting which left Kraft one $25,000 Super Bowl XXXIX ring lighter. At the time Kraft told the media that the ring was given to Putin as a gift, because it really is the perfect present for the world leader who has everything. Here we are some seven years later, and Kraft is finally setting the record straight on “Ring Gate.” -
Michael Jordan’s lawsuit against Chicago area grocery store chain deemed “greedy” by judge
In NBA
A recent trip to court proved MJ still got moves, though perhaps not a grasp of what his name is actually worth. You see, in 2009 NBA legend Michael Jordan was inducted into the Basketball Hall of Fame, and there was much rejoicing. Among those feting His Airness was Sports Illustrated, who put out a commemorative issue celebrating Jordan’s induction into basketball immortality. Inside that issue was an ad by a large Chicago based grocery store chain by the name of Dominick’s, who did their own bit of congratulating, honoring Jordan with a full page ad that included his name, his iconic No.23, a and a very bad pun that segued seamlessly into a $2 off steak coupon.Classy

Carl Petterrson’s ball struck by wayward tee-shot during backswing
In GOLF
Swedish golfer Carl Petterrson was finishing up his first round of the U.S. Open on Friday morning when he became the unwilling victim of a truly bizarre moment, when, as he lined up his second shot from the fairway of the 5th hole, a wayward tee shot by Brandon Crick—who was on the 2nd hole at the time—came rolling up the same fairway, striking Petterrson’s ball as he started his backswing. This sort of weirdness might happen on a public course infested with hackers and duffers who are more full of alcoholic beverages than they are golf skill and etiquette, but not so much on the professional tour. Petterrson was allowed to return his ball to it’s original spot, and, despite having his concentration momentarily broken, would go on to par the hole.
Here’s video of the strange play (via The Big Lead)… Read more ›
