Another day, another NFL player arrested.

Randy Starks, he of the Miami Dolphins, is facing felony charges after being arrested for aggravated battery–on a police officer.

That’s right…bastard assaulted a cop.

With his truck.

Seems around midnight, Starks was driving his black freightliner with 13 people in it…including one on his lap.  Fortunately for Starks the passenger on his lap was a female.  Unfortunately for Starks, the limit on passengers in his vehicle is four.

The cop approached Starks’ slow moving vehicle and knocked on the window, only to have the truck continue on in the bumper to bumper holiday weekend traffic.  The cop continued following on foot, catching up to the truck a second time, and again knocking on the window.

Like the law-abiding, upstanding citizen he is, Starks, with the vehicle now stopped, did what anyone in that situation would do–he accelerated the vehicle, while steering slightly to the left.  Allegedly.

The officer was struck in the chest, then pinned against another vehicle, prompting Starks’ arrest.

It’ll be interesting to see how long Starks’ tenure with the Dolphins will last (last year was his first with the franchise) after his arrest–especially since Bill Parcells made it pretty clear that the team’s roster will not include any “bad guys, thugs and hoodlums.”

I’m pretty sure Randy Starks falls under one of those categories now. [Sun Sentinel]
