Braves Reliever Tough…Like Chuck Norris

Marlins Braves Baseball

In any sport, when things are going bad, sometimes you lose it and do stupid things out of frustration.

If you’re Carlos Zambrano, you beat the hell out of a Gatorade cooler.

If you’re Buddy Ryan, you punch Kevin Gilbride.

But if you’re Jeff Bennett, a reliever for the Atlanta Braves, you punch a door–and break a bone in your hand (luckily it was his non-pitching hand).

Bennett was pissed after surrendering a two run single to Alex “Kate Hudson Lapdances Tire Me Out” Rodriguez in the sixth inning of a Braves/Yankees game.  Judging by his horrible stats though (0-3 in his last 11 games with a 5.25 ERA and an opponents’ batting average of .316) Bennett’s frustration had been building for quite a while.

So he took it out on the dugout door.

And broke a bone in his left hand, causing a bump to rise beneath the skin.

So Bennett channelled his inner Chuck Norris and pushed the bone back into place, put his glove on, and went out to pitch the 7th inning (and gave up a homer to Nick Swisher).

In conclusion…Jeff Bennett is one tough son-of-a-bitch.

But a crappy pitcher. [AJC]
