For those of you who don’t follow NASCAR, that pseudo-sport of fast cars, rednecks and left hand turns, Jeremy Mayfield is a driver…a driver who has been suspended for failing a NASCAR sanctioned drug test.
For meth.
Twice.
On the heels of this latest positive test result, Mayfield let it all hang out, pointing the finger of blame at everyone and anyone he could find.
First off he didn’t trust NASCAR drug testing. OK. One mistake, sure, but now that he’s failed a subsequent drug test, again for methamphetamines, kind of takes the blame off NASCAR for improper testing.
But hey, the fine folks of NASCAR got off easy…unlike, say, Mayfield’s stepmom.
In a nutshell, Mayfield accused his stepmom of murdering his dad.
No, seriously.
Mayfield’s father Terry died in 2007 at the age of 56, apparently from a self-inflicted gunshot wound to the chest. The sheriff’s report found no evidence of foul play.
But that’s not how Jeremy Mayfield sees it…and he’s gonna slap his stepmom Lisa with a wrongful death suit to prove it.
“She knows what we’ve got on her,” Mayfield said. “For her to come out and do this is pretty ballsy. Everybody that’s ever known me knows I never, ever have been around her for more than 10 hours of my life. She’s a gold digger. I knew that from day one.”
Harsh words to say the least. Some of Mayfield’s anger stems from Lisa Mayfield’s sworn affidavit that she witnessed Jeremy doing drugs on numerous occasions, given after the driver tested postive for meth a second time.
“She’s basically a whore,” Mayfield said. “She shot and killed my dad.”
Yikes.
Methinks that’s the crank talking Jeremy. But I’m willing to play devil’s advocate and see how the whole wrongful death suit thingy turns out. [ESPN]
