White Sox Buehrle Pitches Perfect Game

Rangers White Sox baseball

Mark Buehrle, lefthander for the Chicago White Sox, already has a no-hitter to his credit.

Now he can say he is also perfect.

Against the Tampa Bay Rays today, Buehrle mowed down 27 straight hitters en route to a perfect game.  It was the 18th perfect game in MLB history.

But it almost wasn’t to be, save for an amazing catch by centerfielder DeWayne Wise in the 9th inning off a Gabe Kapler rocket to left-center.

What could have been a perfect-game ending dinger turned into one spectacular out.

Here’s the video of the catch (enjoy it while you can…no doubt MLB will have it taken down sooner than later)…

Amazing…simply friggin’ amazing.

Buehrle received a congratulatory phone call from President Barack Obama for his effort. [Yahoo]
