Ya gotta love Ichiro Suzuki, Japanese wunderkind of the Seattle Mariners.
Consider this…he’s on his way to a record ninth straight 200 hit season.
He holds the single season hit record with 262.
His 30 lead-off home runs is 10th best for a career.
He’s got personality to spare.
He’s on his way to 2000 hits for his career…and a one-way ticket to the Baseball Hall of Fame.
And I didn’t include all his great years playing in Japan.
And you know what else is great about Ichiro…he’s a playa!
Ichiro had this great quote from a recent article in the New York Times…
“Chicks who dig home runs aren’t the ones who appeal to me,” he said. “I think there’s sexiness in infield hits because they require technique. I’d rather impress the chicks with my technique than with my brute strength. Then, every now and then, just to show I can do that, too, I might flirt a little by hitting one out.”
That…quote…is…awesome!
Suck on that Pujols, Ramirez, Howard, and the rest of you sluggers.
