More Proof That “Colombian Soccer Player” is the Most Dangerous Job in the World
If you’re a betting kind-of-guy, best to stay away from Los Maniceros (The Peanut Vendors), an amateur football club from Colombia.
Because 10 of the 12 members of the team are dead.
The team had travelled to Chururu, Venezuela, near the Colombian border, for a match on October 11th. Sometime that day, police say 25 heavily armed men pulled up, and asked the referees for a list of players on the Los Maniceros team. The gunmen then called out the player’s names, lined them up, and took them to an undisclosed location.
This past Saturday, 10 of the players were found murdered–execution style. Another is missing, and one player survived, although he had been shot in the neck.
It is not known who is responsible for the reprehensible crime, although both Venezuelan and Colombian officials have their theories.
