Announcer Not a Big Fan of Richmond Kicker…Or the Game Itself

After exhaustive research, I still don’t know if this was one of the announcers, or a producer who was accidentaly mic’d up.  Either way, it’s fairly hilarious, not only for the f-bomb, but also for the brutal honesty of having to broadcast a game like this.

Whoever is responsible, their reaction to Richmond’s missed field goal at the end of regulation is priceless.

I guess that’s one way of getting out of broadcasting FCS games again.

I’d like to see this commentator try to kick an extra point let alone a field goal under pressure. I’m a Nova fan but to call any young athlete a bum is way out of line. This combined wuth the lack of class and professionalism shown with the additional comments this third rate hack announcer should be fired. Probably why he’s doing 1AA ball anyway.

If you don’t like pressure, you probably shouldn’t play college sports. If you are able to handle pressure, you understand that screwing up may get you called a bum and you don’t need crybabies defending you on the internet.

Was not announcers and there are no open mics in studio or truck that would go out to broadcast (wasn’t producer). Could have been tech on field, or fan at field being picked up by field mics (sure comes in clear though) – and tech in truck not realizing the mic was open. Can be heard better here:

That was no announcer. The sound was completely different. It was either a producer in the background with his mic on for some unknown reason, or this was fake. Either way, funny it is. Completely disrespectful of the young players in the game but funny nonetheless.

Yes, screwing up may get you called a bum by fans, but you have to agree that a BROADCASTER doing that OVER THE AIR is just uncalled for. As for the f-bomb, that is simply grounds for dismissal.

Honestly, that sounded fake. The audio feed was far too clear to be convincing.

Bingo! you win the prize! It was the audio tech on the field with an open announcer headset.

  • John (Richmond grad)

That was a brutal miss, but a couple weeks later he kicked a game-winning 48 yarder as time expired against William & Mary (our rival) in the last game of the season to win the conference (tied with Nova). So he got some redemption.
