NFL Legend Lawrence Taylor Busted for Leaving the Scene of a Crash

Like most people, when I first read the story, I just assumed LT had fallen off the wagon and was busted for smoking mushrooms and/or snorting crack.  That’s how you do it right…snort crack, smoke mushrooms and lick crystal meth secreting toads?

But once again I was wrong.  LT was arrested for leaving the scene of an accident down there in Miami-Dade.  Seems Taylor clipped the back tire of a van with the right-front tire on his SUV, causing the van to spin out in front of Taylor’s Cadillac SUV.

Clipping the van caused LT’s SUV to lose it’s front tire, but apparently it still wasn’t enough for LT to stop, as he drove on the axle for another two miles before pulling over.

Cops found him on his cellphone at the side of the road, outside his SUV.  LT told cops he thought he hit a guardrail.

But the biggest shocker, especially after seeing LT’s mug shot, is that the cops didn’t give Taylor a field sobriety test, because he didn’t show any signs of impairment.  Police arrested and charged LT with leaving the scene of an accident.

Now look, I love LT.  One of the best defensive players I have ever seen–just a monster pass-rusher.  An all-time Giant great.  But he has a history.  And his eyes in that mug shot scream “Visine!” Plus his story to the  cops that he thought he hit a guardrail was a bit fishy–but hey, I guess with eyes that bloodshot I wouldn’t be able to see a van spinning in front of my windshield either.

But the cops thought he was sober–and they were there.  I wasn’t.  So this time, I’ll give Taylor the benefit of the doubt, and say that LT was sober at the time of his unfortunate car accident.
