This is a pretty scary story–and yet another example that it’s best to cheer your fave team at HOME. Going on the road to watch your team can be a dangerously reckless idea.
Just ask Zack Heddinger.
Heddinger is a Steelers fan, who made the trip to Chicago to watch his beloved Steelers play, and lose, to the Chicago Bears 17-14. Seems Heddinger and some buddies were out at a Chicago bar after the game having a few pops.
Apparently his buds got into an argument with some Bears fans, then Heddinger was offered a drink from said Bears fans as a way of making peace.
Or they were trying to kill the guy.
Soon after downing the drink, his buddies had to rush Heddinger to the hospital. He couldn’t see, and his heart stopped four times, with doctors restarting his heart each time.
Yikes.
Doctors thought at first he had too much to drink (?), then feared it might have been something worse, like anti-freeze (goes great with cranberry juice), or toxic grain alcohol.
Well, the good news is that Heddinger survived, but the bad news is that two months later he can’t see. Police are investigating, and the bar, Kitty O’Sheas is cooperating fully with the investigation.
Lesson here? Never accept a drink from rival fans on their turf…oh, and Bears fans are wicked hardcore. [Huffington Post, Image]
