Brendan Witt Unscathed After Bodychecking Car

I know hockey players are renowned for their toughness, but come on, this is a bit much.

Brendan Witt, the uber-tattooed defenseman for the NY Islanders, got hit by a car this morning in Philly (presumably driven by a Flyers fan).  The driver made an illegal u-turn, before hitting the NHLer.

Of course, Witt got up, shook it off, hurled a few obscenities at the driver, told witnesses he was ok, and went on his merry way.

Seriously, that’s exactly what happened.

“I’m OK,” Witt said, according to Newsday. “I’ve got to go play some hockey. I’m a hockey player. I’m OK. No big deal.”

Oh, and Witt’s expected to be in the lineup tonight against the Flyers.

Which is good news for the Islanders–and very bad, bad news for the Flyers.
