Hockey Dads Engage in a Pantsless Bar Brawl with Cops

Actually, only one of the hockey dads was (allegedly) pantsless. I don’t know if being naked from the waist down would be beneficial, or a detriment, to fighting cops. Shockingly, alcohol was involved.

It’s not surprising that hockey, that most violent of sports, was at the center of this dust-up. But this was a kid’s hockey tournament–meaning that most of the violence is reserved for the stands, between crazed, belligerent, ‘living vicariously through my child’ hockey dads (and moms).

Not this time. Nope, this time the action took place off-ice, away from the bleachers–all the way to the bar at the Grand Island, New York Holiday Inn. Cops were called to a disturbance at the hotel, and were greeted warmly by the Canadian contingent of hockey fathers, who had been out enjoying a friendly snifter of port after the game.

And by warmly greeted, I mean the cops were attacked by a “bar full of belligerent, obnoxious, intoxicated Ontario men visiting the hotel while in the area for a kid’s hockey tournament.”

Including our fantastic, pantsless, drunken lout of a role model.

I’m not sure what I find more fascinating–the fact that they were at a kid’s hockey tournament, or that the offenders were Canadian. You know, those Canadians. Polite, charming, maple syrupy sweet Canucks. I’m flabbergasted.

A brawl erupted between deputies and the wasted hockey dads. Three of the brawlers were eventually arrested. Jayson G. Stevenson, 38, Dennis H. Heinz, 39, and Rico H. Razaly, all of Cobourg, Ontario, were charged with disorderly conduct, resisting arrest and obstructing governmental administration.

Heinz was also charged with public lewdness, because of his hatred for pants.

Cue the “I went to a pantsless bar brawl and a hockey game broke out” jokes.
