A’s Prospect Grant Desme Seeks Higher Calling

It’s weird refreshing to see that for some people, it’s not always about the money.  For me, it is all about the money, because I have none, which isn’t too great when you have a crystal meth addiction like I do.  But I get by.

Grant Desme is one of the top prospects in the Oakland A’s organization.  He had a nice season this past year, batting .288 with 31 dingers and 89 RBIs in 130 games.  It seemed Desme was headed to Class AA this fall, then possibly the show.

Or not.

See, Desme has decided to give up the life of a ballplayer, and the money, fame and women that go with it, for a life of celibacy, poverty and relative obscurity.  In other words, he’s going to be just like me, but with nicer robes and collars.

That’s right, Desme is leaving organized baseball for the priesthood.  And apparently he’s very serious about his new calling.  Which is fine with me.  If it’s what the 23-year-old Desme truly wants to do with his life, best of luck to him.

Give me the cash, fame and loose women any day of the week.
