Hedo Turkoglu’s Succinctness is Awkward but Legendary

The Toronto Raptors took out the New York Knicks last night at Madison Square Gardens to win their fourth game in a row.  One of the stars on the night was Hedo Turkoglu, who poured in 26 points, and grabbed 11 boards in the winning effort.

TSN color analyst Jack Armstrong sought out Turkoglu for some post-game comments.  About a minute into the interview, I’m pretty sure Armstrong wished he had chosen a different player.  Maybe someone who’s first language is English.

It started out OK…Turkoglu said that execution was the reason for the Raps comeback, when questioned by Armstrong.  Then things kind of broke down…

In case you didn’t quite get that, here’s the written translation of the back-and-forth between Hedo and Jack…

Jack Armstrong: You came out tonight, early, aggressive. What was different for you tonight in terms of setting the tone with your game in this game?

Hedo TurkogluBall.

Jack Armstrong: awkward silence

Hedo Turkoglu: awkward silence

Finally Jack Armstrong, ever the professional, finishes Turkoglu’s thought, or something like that.  Hedo ends the interview with “I’ve got nothing else to say,” and moves on.

Maybe next time Hedo will go into a detailed explanation of his Master’s thesis…”An Examination of Retrocausality in Quantum Mechanics.”

But I doubt it.
