Mexican Drug Cartel Makes Soccer More Interesting, In a Gruesome Sort of Way

If you’ve ever thought “hey, maybe I’ll apply for a job with a Mexican drug cartel,” you might want to think twice before sending them your resume. You could ask Hugo Hernandez why you shouldn’t…but he won’t tell you.
Or should I say, he can’t tell you.
Because a rival drug cartel stitched the 36-year-old’s face to a soccer ball.
That can only be as gruesome as it sounds.
Hernandez, a member of the Juarez drug cartel, was kidnapped earlier this month by a rival gang in neighboring Sonora state. The gang killed him, then dismembered his body, leaving various “parts” around the streets of Los Mochis. The soccer ball wearing the Hugo Hernandez mask was left outside city hall.
But the rival gang wasn’t all killing and torturing–they did leave a note with the body parts. A sweet little note that read “Happy New Year, because this will be your last.” Huh, maybe that wasn’t such a pleasant message after all.
I can’t help but wonder–how did they stitch the guys face to the soccer ball? By hand? With a sewing machine? Some poor exploited kid in a sweat shop? And whoever did the sewing must be three kinds of batshit insane to be able to sit and attach a man’s face to a soccer ball for the fun of it.
All in all, that is some scary shit.
