Twin Boxing Brothers Take Sibling Rivalry to a Frightening Level
A fistfight between a pair of brothers is nothing if not commonplace. Hardly worth the time to report on it…unless those brothers happen to be similarly-named twins.
As well as ex-boxers.
Then, well then you might just have something we in the biz call newsworthy.
Travis (26-1, 19 KO’s) and Tarvis (24-0-1) Simms are twin brothers who both used to be in the fight game, with Travis experiencing the most success, what with him being a former super welterweight champion and all. Whether there was any pent up jealousy on Tarvis’ part, or some other reason entirely, the men decided that this past Easter weekend was the perfect time to have a good old fashioned family dust-up.
What started as an argument quickly deteriorated into a full-blown, five-alarm family emergency. Seems Travis tired of talking (alliteration alert!) and decided it was time to let his fists do the talking–which they did, right to Tarvis’ face.
It was all downhill from there.
Cops say that Tarvis tried one-upping Travis’ punch by brandishing a knife. Travis taught Tarvis the folly of bringing a knife to a gun fight by pulling a piece on his brother, and politely asking him to leave. And if that weren’t bad enough, Travis’ 10-year-old daughter was bitten on the arm during the melee, apparently while she was trying to separate the tussling twins.
Knives, guns, a face punch and a 10-year-old biting victim? These guys were one well placed shank and/or bullet away from becoming the 21st century’s Cain and Abel. At the very least they make Liam and Noel Gallagher look like a pair of giant pussies.
Travis, a city councilman no less, was charged with reckless endangerment, threatening, and third-degree assault, while Tarvis was arraigned on charges of risk of injury to a minor, threatening, and third-degree assault.
As for the fight…let’s call it a draw.
