Highly unlikely, but that surprisingly profitable website that promotes extramarital affairs, AshleyMadison.com, is hoping it will be, after making an offer to the CEO of New Meadowlands for naming rights to the stadium that the NY Jets and NY Giants call home, to the tune of a cool $25 million for five years. And if that doesn’t cut it, the founder of Ashley Madison, Noel Biderman, has put it out there that his company will match any other offer put forth.
Who knew there was so much money to be made in the field of adultery?
The chances that the powers-that-be agree to this deal are slim and none. First of all, $5 million per year for naming rights is a fairly low figure, considering that Bank Of America shells out $7 million a year for naming rights to the home of the Carolina Panthers, and that FedEx’s naming rights fees are in the neighborhood of $7.6 million. And let’s not forget the outcry that would follow from pro-marriage groups and the like, who would surely protest the naming of a stadium after such a scandalous website. Their rallying cry would surely be “won’t someone think of the children?”
Hey, I don’t see the problem with this at all. So what if AshleyMadison.com is a place for married folks to hook up and have affairs. Considering the recent rash of stadium bathroom stall sex, the whole thing seems kind of appropriate…no?
