Jonathan Toews and the Stanley Cup Enjoy Some Public Transportation

Chicago Tribune

Well, as much as you can enjoy riding the bus with the most famous trophy in professional sports in tow. And judging by the look on Toews’s face, he’s not having a great time. But can you blame him? The city bus is chock full of unemployed weirdos, people with DUI’s who couldn’t get a ride, and tree-hugging hippies who care about the environment.

The little kid with the shades is kind of cool though.

OK people, don’t get your panties in a bunch–I’m only joshing about the fine people who choose public transportation. For the record, I’m all for anything that lowers vehicle emissions and is beneficial to the environment.

As for Toews and the Cup, yes he is riding a bus, in his childhood home of Winnipeg, Manitoba, en route to a celebratory parade in which Toews and the Stanley Cup are the guests of honor. As for Toews’ dour expression, it seems he takes his nickname of Captain Serious well, seriously.

The kid in the shades, while still pretty damn cool, is Toews’ cousin Madison.

Still, considering he’s the captain of the Chicago Blackhawks, and he’s got the Cup with him, couldn’t the city of Winnipeg have sprung for a limo–or at least a taxi? I’m just sayin’ is all.
