Pair of Tour De France Riders Throw Punches…And Bike Wheels

I don’t know if this is a first or not…with cycling being as competitive as it is, I doubt it. But still, it’s most definitely a rare occurrence when a couple of riders throw down, even more so when one goes all Happy Gilmore, only with a bike tire instead of a hockey skate.

Believe it or not, that exact scenario took place today at the finish line of the 6th stage of the Tour De France. Rui Costa and Carlos Barredo mixed it up after they finished the stage, with Barredo trying to use his front wheel to inflict serious damage to Costa, after the former claimed the latter elbowed him in the stomach with about 20km left in the stage, a move which almost caused Barredo to fall off his bike.

It’s really not much of a fight…the bike wheel adds a little panache to the whole thing, but in the end, it’s just two fancy boys in spandex bitch slapping each other.
