Kurt Warner’s Wife Has Some Odd Casting Ideas for Hubby’s Possible Biopic

Retirement hasn’t slowed down former Cards QB Kurt Warner any–besides his gig as a commentator for his former AFL team, the Iowa Barnstormers, Warner is also set to become a part-time analyst for Fox Sports this season.

And let’s not forget there’s always the possibility he’ll become one of the dubious “stars” on the wholly unwatchable “Dancing With the Stars.”

Then there’s his inspirational, rags-to-riches story that everyone should know by now.  Seems Warner has been approached by some Hollywood folk interested in doing a movie based on his life.

I can see that happening, especially if one of the big studios gets involved–although I suspect they won’t be in agreement with wife Brenda’s choice to play her husband in his biopic…

He has met with producers interested in doing a movie on his life story. If Brenda had her way, Warner said, Denzel Washington would land the lead role.

*rubs eyes*

Wait…what?

“It would probably challenge Denzel in ways he’s never been challenged before,” Warner mused.

Color me stupid, but I think Kurt Warner just insulted Denzel Washington, one of the finest actors of our generation.  Look, if Charlize Theron can ugly herself up to play Aileen Wuornos, and Eric Stoltz can become that kid from Mask, why can’t Denzel lighten himself up to impersonate Kurt Warner?

No offense to Mr. Washington, but a better alternative would be to have Robert Downey Jr. playing Denzel, playing Kurt Warner, a la Tropic Thunder.  Add to the cast Jessica Simpson as Brenda, Alfonso Ribeiro as Trent Green, Lorenzo Lamas as Dick Vermeil, and Pauly Shore in the role of Matt Leinart, and you’ve got yourself one helluva movie there.
