Mark the date down on your calendar folks, because today is the day that Albert Haynesworth, the Redskins disgruntled and portly defensive lineman, finally passed the team’s conditioning test on his third try. Apparently his balky knee held up long enough for him to complete the two 300-yard runs in the allotted time.

Haynesworth, the only player required to take the team imposed conditioning test, failed in his first two previous attempts before taking some time off to rest his sore left knee. But with the knee apparently in good shape, Haynesworth showed up at the Redskin’s practice facility early this morning, and after meeting up with defensive coordinator Jim Haslett and strength coach Ray Wright, aced the test.

About friggin’ time. The longer this thing dragged on, the more embarrassing it became for Mike Shanahan, Albert Haynesworth and the entire Redskins organization, especially after so many non-athletes took the test and passed with flying colors, just to see how difficult it really was to perform a pair of 300-yd runs in under 70 and 73 seconds respectively, with a 3 1/2 minute rest in between.

Of course, none of those people were pushing 350-pounds (except maybe for Mike Golic), and definitely none were weighed down by a $21 million bonus in their pockets, and lofty, almost unreachable expectations.
