Former Canadian and World Champion figure skater Kurt Browning’s multi-million-dollar mansion burnt to the ground yesterday, after a fire started in the garage before spreading to the rest of the house.
Normally this wouldn’t qualify as worthy for this site…that is, until you hear how the fire got started.
Apparently the interior of Browning’s convertible Porsche was soaked from being out in the rain with the top down. Naturally, Kurt wanted to dry the seats and whatnot before that damp, musty smell set in, so he came up with an ingenious way of quick drying the interior.
With a leaf blower.
Do I even need to say it? No, but I will anyway…wait, what?
From the sounds of it, Browning left the leaf blower unattended in the garage, and when he returned to finish the job, his car was engulfed in flames. Unable to put it out with an extinguisher, he fled the home with one of his kids and a painter who was working at the mansion.
It took 80 firefighters over three hours to extinguish the blaze. Damage to Browning’s mansion has been pegged at over $1 million.
Maybe next time something like this comes up, before doing something as monumentally idiotic as this, he’ll stop and ask himself…”What would Brian Boitano do?”
