Sidney Crosby Does What Most Pirates’ Hitters Can’t
Penguins superstar Sidney Crosby and a bunch of other Penguins players, who shall remain nameless, faceless second bananas, took some time to bond while taking batting practice at PNC Park, thanks to some string pulling by former Pirates first baseman Sean Casey.
Of course it was Crosby, who looks to me like the lovechild of Andy Samberg and Jason Biggs, that has to go and steal the show by jacking a homer to deep right field, some 370 feet away. Sure it took him 15 or so pitches, but still impressive nonetheless.
The secret to Crosby’s power stroke? Bat speed through the zone baby…bat speed through the zone.
Says Crosby…
“I’ve never done that before,” smiled Crosby just seconds after hitting his blast. “I had a little bit of an edge because of I am a lefty. To be able to come out here was awesome and to be able to put one out was great.”
Video of Sid the Kid going yard after the jump…
Sadly, this was probably the highlight of the year for Pirates fans…and none were there to witness it.
