• Cowboys Roy Williams is Obviously Delusional

  That may be the understatement of the year.  Either that or the Dallas receiver has been on the wrong end of one too many concussions in his unspectacular career.

  Postulating about yet another sub-par year with the Cowboys, Williams was at a loss for the lack of production…

  “It’s disappointing,” Williams said. “I can only do what I can do. I started out nice then all of sudden I fell off the face of the earth.”

  Williams is right on the mark, having started out like gangbusters with 21 catches for 306 yards and five TDs through the team’s first five games.  The last 10 games, uh, not so much (15 catches, 298 yards, zero TDs).  An overall worse season than his terrible 2009 season.

  “I have no idea,” said Williams when asked to explain the disparity. ” I run what is called. I lineup. I break the huddle I go play. I only get two or three chances a game I try to make the most of them.”

  I got no problem with what Williams is saying there, true or not.  I do, however, take issue with the next words out of the Cowboys receiver’s mouth. Read more ›

   

• Ben Roethlisberger Now in Walking Stick Form

  At least I think that’s supposed to be Big Ben.  The Steelers helmet and No. 7 are a dead giveaway, but the face—the face looks more like a young, wooden, Look Who’s Talking John Travolta, which is a far cry from Ben Roethlisberger.  But considering I couldn’t carve an X into the side of a tree, I’ll give the artist a pass on this one. • Video: Tyreke Evans’ Game-Winning Buzzer Beater is Long, Impressive

  So, this happened last night.

  Down 98-97 to the Grizzlies after O.J. Mayo’s circus-shot fadeaway gave Memphis the lead, Sacramento’s Tyreke Evans threw up a desperation 48-footer as time expired, and you know what—damn thing went in.

  Final score, 100-98 Kings.

  That’s one hell of a way to snap an eight-game losing streak.  However, if it’s going to take last second, long-range buzzer beaters to get wins, Sacramento may not have many more than the six they have now when the season ends.

  Still, let us bask in the beauty that was Evans’ game-winner, shall we?

• Nate Robinson Models the New “Cat Mink Fur” Shaq Bought Him

  Nate Robinson looks half 50 Cent, half Zsa Zsa Gabor as he models this “cat mink fur” coat he received as a gift from Celtics teammate Shaquille O’Neal.  I don’t know if it’s a coat made of cat and mink fur, or some hybrid, as yet unknown “cat mink” animal culled from the isle of Dr. Moreau.  Either way, it’s pretty sharp, in a gaudy without being tasteful kind of way. • Eagles Coach Andy Reid Will Not Tolerate Reporter Tardiness

  Think Philly coach Andy Reid wasn’t just a little pissed after his team went out and laid an egg Tuesday night against the lowly Minnesota Vikings?

  The Eagles came out flat, losing 24-14 to the Joe Webb (who?) led Vikings, and in the process lose out on a first-round bye, in a rare Tuesday night game.

  So yeah, Reid’s got a lot to be upset about, and showing up late to the post-game press conference doesn’t help matters either, you lousy, inconsiderate reporters.

• Video: Lions Dominic Raiola Asks Dolphins Fans for a Little Fellatio

  Not that I’m implying Lions center Dominic Raiola has a little anything—I have no intimate knowledge of Raiola’s junk, nor do I want any.  What I meant was…aw forget it.

  The Detroit Lions are on a roll, a three game roll to be exact, which has this normally moribund franchise pumped.  So excuse them if they’re not a little excitable after marching into Sun Life Stadium and beating the Miami Dolphins 34-27.  Dominic Raiola though, he’s ramped without the slightest pretense of class.

  Witness the Detroit center telling asking Fins fans in section 156 to politely “suck my d***!”  Oh yes he did, he most certainly did.  Wonder if anyone took him up on his offer?

• Video: Anze Kopitar’s Incredible Lob Pass to Dustin Brown

  I’ve never seen a lob pass like the one Kings center Anze Kopitar pulled off the other night against the San Jose Sharks.  Tremendous is the only word I could think of to describe it—absolutely tremendous.  It’s the equivalent of an alley-oop in basketball, but way more difficult to execute.

  The fact that it came with Los Angeles up 3-0 with just about two minutes left to play, the perfect time to attempt a bit of trickery knowing there’s very little chance it will come back to bite you in the ass, doesn’t diminish how beautiful a pass it was.  Dustin Brown’s finish is just the icing on the proverbial cake.

• Did a Ref Give a Group of Columbus Blue Jackets Fans the Finger?

  "Hey, wanna see me piss off a bunch of fans?"

  Depends on who you ask.  A bunch of fans in the 109 section of Nationwide Arena are saying that referee Paul Devorski taunted them before flipping them off via a subtle, but fairly obvious, obscene gesture.

  During the Columbus Blue Jackets’ 4-3 shootout win over the Minnesota Wild, the group of fans started razzing Devorski over what they thought was a missed call.  Witnesses claim they were giving Devorski the business pretty good, as to be expected from the hometown fans when a call doesn’t go their way.  Referees, umpires and the like get this kind of treatment all the time—it’s one of the reasons that a thick-skin is a prerequisite for professional referees.

  But Devorksi was having none of that.  Perhaps fed up with the taunting, perhaps to stick the needle in further, Devorski (allegedly) gave it right back to the fans in section 109, with a taunt and of his own. Read more ›

   

• Kerry Collins’ Errant Pass Concusses Teammate, Knocks Him Out of the Game

  "Heads Up!"

  Lost in the Titans 34-14 shellacking at the hands of the Kansas City Chiefs was this juicy little nugget of unintentional hilarity, courtesy of Tennessee QB Kerry Collins, his big right arm, a wayward pass, and a concussed teammate.  If you haven’t quite put those painfully simple puzzle pieces together, well, you’re beyond all hope.

  An errant Collins pass sailed out of bounds—directly into the unsuspecting melon of Titans DE William Hayes.  Getting a football in the head isn’t all that funny, especially when it causes a concussion, as this one did, unless of course it wasn’t you who was on the receiving end of the Collins throw.  Then it’s absolutely freaking priceless. • Charles Barkley Shares His Thoughts on Rex Ryan’s Foot Fetish

  You had to know that Charles Barkley would weigh in on the whole Rex Ryan “Footgate“ non-scandal that has been all over the Internet this past week or so.  Me, I stayed away from the whole damn thing because 1) it’s a non-story, really, about two consenting adults and their foot-fetish, and 2) feet really gross me the hell out.

  But when Chuck speaks, I listen—then copy and paste what he said, because it’s always comedy gold.

  Barkley was on with Dan Patrick and the subject of Ryan and his wife and their love of feet came up.  Candid as always, Barkley let fly with a couple of good lines about the whole thing.
