• Holy Crap on a Stick! I Almost Forgot It’s Our Birthday Today!

  Not my birthday per se, but rather the site’s 2nd glorious year of existence.  Hard to believe that it was two years ago today that I came up with this little baked turd I call a sports blog, thanks in part to a wild night of drinking cheap whiskey, a buttload of crystal meth, and barely legal Asian porn.

  Yes folks, two years has gone by, and in that time we’ve grown, not by leaps and bounds mind you, but gradually, and consistently, into a semi-successful sports blog..  And I owe it all to a) the readers, b) my friends in the blogging world (you know who you are…your names are on the royalty checks), and c) poorly established laws against Internet plagiarism.

• VIDEO: The Highlight of the 2011 NFL Draft? This Giants Fan

  Yee-friggin’-haw, this guy is way too into the draft.  I love the energy, the joie de vivre, and the fact that he painted a Giants helmet on his huge, bald cranium.

  Do you think our superfan here is pleased with New York taking Prince Amukamara in the first round?  Do you think he even noticed?  I think the Giants could have taken a long snapper with the No.19 overall pick and this guy still would have lost it.

  I gotta go to the draft one of these days, just to hang with people like this—and to boo Roger Goodell mercilessly.

• After New Orleans Drafts Mark Ingram, Reggie Bush Sees the Writing on the Wall

  To say that Reggie Bush’s time in New Orleans has been underwhelming is an understatement.  He’s a phenomenal punt returner, but as far as a full-time running back goes, he hasn’t lived up to his billing as the No.2 draft pick overall.

  But say what you will about Bush, he’s nothing if not perceptive.  After his Saints used the No.28 pick in the first round on Alabama RB, and fellow Heisman Trophy winner, Mark Ingram, Bush took to Twitter with a rather cryptic, yet somewhat prophetic, quote.

• Mike Ditka Jr. Blames DUI Arrest on His Famous Name

  Well, it’s a helluva lot better than Albert Haynesworth’s “I don’t like black girls” defense against sexual abuse charges.  Not by much, but definitely better.

  Mike Ditka Jr., the son of the legendary Bears coach, was arrested in the parking lot of his apartment complex and charged with DUI, a charge that the junior Ditka refutes, claiming that the car was parked, and that the keys were not even in the ignition.  He went even further, saying that the police targeted him because of his famous name. • Bucs Rookie Hailed as a Hero for Saving Three Kayakers in Distress

  Most fans aren’t too happy with the NFL lockout (yours truly included), but there are at least three teenagers who are more than grateful that there’s a work stoppage, otherwise Ted Larsen might not have been available to save their lives.

  Larsen, a rookie offensive lineman for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, was fishing with his girlfriend on his 24-foot boat when he heard the Coast Guard signal for a boater in distress.  The 23-year-old didn’t hesitate to help out after realizing that the troubled boater was nearby.

  Turns out it was three kayakers struggling in the choppy gulf waters just off Honeymoon Island, two of which were already in the water, hanging on to their kayaks for dear life.  Larsen rescued all three, and their vessels, before returning them to shore. Read more ›

• VIDEO: Kobe Announces His Presence With Authority

  Bad ankle?  What bad ankle?

  Kobe Bryant absolutely posterizes the Hornets Emeka Okafor during last night’s 106-90 Lakers win.  The vicious slam turned the momentum of the game in L.A.’s direction, and the win gave them a stranglehold on the series.

  As for Kobe Bryant and his bum ankle—yeah, he pumped in 19 points, the two best coming off this monster dunk in the 2nd quarter.

• Is BYU’s Jimmer Fredette Getting His Own Reality Show?

  If the fine folks at Tupelo-Honey Productions are to be believed, then the answer is yes…yes he is.  Let’s just pray that Jimmer’s as yet unnamed show doesn’t have any crossover episodes with Jersey Shore, lest Tupelo-Honey Productions wants to be responsible for a million Mormon heads exploding.

  The 2011 Naismith and John R. Wooden Award winner signed an exclusive agreement with Tupelo-Honey Productions that will allow the company to film over 100 hours of footage of Jimmer and his family as he deals with the transition from college to the NBA.

  No word on which network the Jimmer Fredette reality show will be carried on.  Tupelo-Honey is in discussions with various outlets about broadcasting the show. Read more ›
