• VIDEO: This Soccer Freestyler’s Ball Handling Skills are Right Off the Charts

  Meet Iya Traore, a professional freestyler originally from Guinea, who is an absolute wizard with a soccer ball.  Some of Traore’s tricks are rather pedestrian, as far as soccer tricks go, but the others—well, the others are just phenomenal.

  By far the ultimate show of Traore’s talent is when he climbs a light pole while spinning a ball on a pen…while holding it in his mouth.  Pretty sure that would be against the rules in a normal soccer match, but this isn’t a normal soccer match, and at this point, who gives a damn.  Iya’s freestyle soccer skills are mad.

• High Schoolers Honor Recently Deceased Friend with TD Celebration, Get Penalized

  There are different levels of touchdown celebrations, ranging from excessive, to quietly understated.  The excessive ones seem to get flagged, and in the case of the NFL, occasionally fined, which is alright with me.  Showboating is fine, but it crosses the line when it starts becoming insulting to the other team.

  This celebration, by a couple of players from Louisville (Ohio) High is neither disrespectful or insulting, but rather was a touching tribute to a recently deceased friend.  At least that’s what many people thought.  The referee however, thought otherwise.

  WR Alex Schooley had just scored a late touchdown to give Louisville a 26-24 lead over Walsh Jesuit.  Schooley met teammate Gavin Lovejoy in the end zone, and the pair pointed to the skies to honor a friend of theirs, Dom Wilgus, who died just days earlier in a car accident. A very classy and touching gesture.

  The referee decided that their celebration was excessive and flagged Louisville because “the players’ heavenward point was considered an action that drew attention to themselves.”  Read more ›

   

• Here’s Joba Chamberlain Posing With a Giant Wrench

  Yankees pitcher Joba Chamberlain, who’s on the DL following Tommy John surgery, tweeted this photo of him holding this ginormous wrench during a visit to the Lincoln (NE) Fire Department.  If you didn’t know that was Joba Chamberlain, admit it, you’d be scared of this guy.  The tattoos, the sinister look, the large wrench ready to pummel you to death, or at the very least beat you senseless with. • Arian Foster Says His Hamstring Injury is Just “Anti-Awesomeness” at Work

  Much has been made recently of Texans RB Arian Foster and his hamstring pull, especially when it comes to fantasy football leagues.  Foster is projected to go either No.1 or No.2 overall, so this tweaked hammy is a bit of a concern to fantasy owners looking to draft the Houston back.

  The extent of Foster’s injury is still up in the air—the team says it’s just a minor pull, nothing serious, and Foster should be ready for week 1 against the Colts.  That being said, Foster suffered a similar injury during training camp which caused him to miss two weeks of practice, so you can understand why there might be some concern from people outside the Houston organization.

  Foster himself took to Twitter to give an update on his hamstring, by posting an image from an MRI he had done, which to the layperson looks pretty cool, but means absolutely nothing.  Good thing the Texans star is somewhat of a medical expert, because his explanation of what the MRI shows, particularly the white stuff surrounding the leg muscle, clears things right up… Read more ›

• Streaker Arrested Near NASCAR Race Also Had Wild Raccoon in his Possession

  This story, involving streaking, NASCAR, and a raccoon, may be about the most redneck thing you may ever read.  All that’s missing is some Pabst Blue Ribbon and a prize-winning mullet.

  Pictured here with a quizzical look on his face is Joshua Greene, a 27-year-old West Virginian man, who was arrested for streaking through a busy parking lot just off Route 394 in Bristol, Tennessee.  The lot was packed because of it’s proximity to the Bristol Motor Speedway, which was hosting the Irwin Tools Night Race this past Saturday night.

  But wait, there’s more.

  After cops caught Greene in a nearby neighborhood, still clad in his birthday suit, they were able to track down his car, which contained a female companion…and a wild raccoon.

• VIDEO: Flare Surfing is the Coolest Thing You Will See All Day

  Just look at that picture and tell me that’s not the most boss thing you’ve seen in a while.  I find surfing fascinating, only because there’s -1000% chance I’ll ever grow a set and try it.  So when I watch these surfer dudes tame these huge waves, I’m awestruck.

  Then this guy comes along, straps a flare to the end of his board, and I’m absolutely mystified.  It just proves the old adage—if you add fire to something, it becomes totally badass…surfing included.

  This surfer is a member of the Red Bull Minor Threat 2011, a team made up of four veteran surfers and four surfing juniors, with the premise that the two different levels of surfing expertise will drive each other towards further greatness in the waves.

  I don’t think this can be topped…unless you can surf on the back of a great white or something.  I don’t think that’s recommended though.  Safety issue and all that. Read more ›

   

• Jeremy Shockey’s Version of the Heimlich Maneuver is Simple Yet Effective

  Carolina Panthers tight end Ben Hartsock was involved in a rather scary incident the other day, after the Ohio State product started choking on a piece of pork tenderloin while dining in the team’s lunchroom.

  Initially Hartsock tried to drink some water to clear his throat.  When that didn’t work, he started making his way to the bathroom (Ed. note: never, ever go to the bathroom if you’re choking—by the time somebody finds you, you’re dead…or at the very least, permanently brain damaged from lack of oxygen), but was fortunately cut off by some Panthers teammates who realized that Hartsock couldn’t breathe.

  One of his teammates attempted the Heimlich Maneuver, but was unsuccessful in clearing the rogue piece of pork tenderloin.

• Brad Marchand Spends Day With Stanley Cup, Eats Cereal Out of It

  One of the perks of winning Lord Stanley’s Cup is that each player on the team gets to spend a day with the trophy.  Usually whoever has the Cup for the day brings it back to their hometown, where they are feted with a parade, and the residents of the town get to pose for pictures with the famous piece of hardware.

  Of course, in it’s travels the Stanley Cup is involved in some rather nefarious shenanigans (see Lemieux, Mario and Draper, Kris).  So maybe Brad Marchand eating some tasty Cinnamon Toast Crunch out of the hallowed trophy isn’t such a big deal. Read more ›

   

• This Crimson Tide Fan’s “Man Cave” is the Most Alabamiest “Man Cave” of All

  Wait…is Alabamiest even a word?  If it wasn’t before, it sure is now, because it’s really the only superlative you can use to describe Crimson Tide fan Vince Gilham’s prize winning “Man Cave.”

  The 44-year-old is the winner of the The Birmingham News’ “Ultimate Man Cave” contest, and his room dedicated to all things ‘Bama truly is impressive, for the most part anyway.

  Upon entering Gilham’s “Man Cave,” the Rammer Jammer cheer starts playing with gusto.  Inside the den you’ll find a jukebox, five TVs, footballs signed by all of the players from the Crimson Tide’s 1978, 1992 and 2009 national championship teams, framed photos of Alabama football legends, an Alabama pool table, nine leather stadium theater seats resting atop a patch of Legion Field turf, and to top things off, two life-sized mannequins of Brodie Coyle and coach Bear Bryant, complete with his own goal post.
