• Billy the Marlin Shows Off His New Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat

  They’ve changed their name.  They’ve changed their uniforms.  Their new stadium is currently under construction.  And now the Miami Marlins have finally answered the question that’s had the baseball world on edge since their makeover began.

  What will Billy the Marlin’s makeover look like?

  The long, arduous wait is over my friends, as Billy’s new look was finally revealed today, and if you’re a big fan of the Marlins’ new color scheme, then you’ll be one happy camper.  However, if the team’s new rainbow look makes you seize uncontrollably, then you’re probably not going to like how Billy the Marlin turned out.

  Let’s just say the new Billy looks fairly similar to the old Billy, only much more technicolor-y.

• Novak Djokovic Will Flex His Acting Chops in “The Expendables 2″

  The Expendables 2 is currently filming in Bulgaria, and this time around the star-studded cast of action heroes from the first film (Stallone, Couture, Statham, Lundgren, Li, etc.) are joined by some of the other giants of the Hollywood action movie genre, such as Arnold Schwarzenegger, Jean-Claude Van Damme, Chuck Norris, and Novak Djokovic.

  Wait, what?

  OK, so Djokovic’s starring role is actually more like a cameo, and the character he plays won’t be a stretch at all, seeing that he’ll be playing himself in the flick, and not some badass Serbian hitman or tennis playing secret double agent with a quick trigger finger and a heart of gold. • VIDEO: Preds Jordin Tootoo Can’t Shut Off His Nosebleed During Interview

  Often times during an NHL broadcast a player will be interviewed between periods to give his thoughts on how the game’s progressing, his team’s play, and other vital point of interest for the viewers at home.  During Tuesday’s game against the Calgary Flames, Nashville forward Jordin Tootoo was the intermission guest for Fox Sports Tennessee announcer Terry Crisp, and let’s just say that the interview didn’t quite go as planned.

  Tootoo had taken a butt end to the face from Flames defenseman Scott Hannan, and as luck would have it, at the point in the interview when Crisp brought up the high stick, the Preds winger’s nose starts bleeding…and bleeding…and bleeding.  Eventually Crisp cuts the segment short so Tootoo can get some much needed repairs to his injured schnozz. • Deron Williams’ Dozen Games for Beşiktaş Was Enough for Them to Retire His Jersey

  Nets guard Deron Williams was one of  the first players to sign on to play basketball overseas when the NBA lockout started, joining Turkish club Beşiktaş.  Williams ended up playing in just 12 games with the team, while putting up some decent numbers (19.7 points and 6.4 assists per game), including a 50-point output against Goettingen in the Eurochallenge Cup.

  Either Beşiktaş was in complete awe of D-Will’s superstar status, or they don’t see a lot of 50-point scorers in the Turkish Basketball League, because prior to their EuroChallenge game against ZZ Leiden (Ed. note: Anyone else think of  ZZ Top when they read that?), Williams’ now former Turkish club raised his No. 8 to the rafters of the Sinan Erdem Dome.

• Glen ‘Big Baby’ Davis Spent the Lockout Enjoying Arts and Crafts, Self-Reflection

  Not every NBA player went overseas during the lockout.  Some, like Celtics forward Glen ‘Big Baby’ Davis, spent their time off partaking in activities much more creative and introspective in nature.  As you’re about to see, Davis enjoyed filling the yawning chasm left by the lack of basketball by taking up knitting, assembling model car kits, and recreating the TD Gardens out of popsicle sticks, undoubtedly from a thousand popsicles the big man ate himself.

  Throw in some meditation and a little self-reflection and I dare say that Big Baby had the most productive use of his lockout time of any NBA player.  Plus that sweater he knit for Paul Pierce is adorable, and I hope he enjoys wearing it to his weekly book club meetings.  I hear next week’s novel selection is Little Women by Louisa May Alcott. • Detroit Mercy Guard Drives the Lane, Loses the Handle, Makes Basket Anyway

  Detroit Mercy sophomore guard Ray McCallum Jr. certainly had lady luck on his side when he made this improbable basket during his team’s 94-93 win over Austin Peay last week. Heck, even the Harlem Globetrotters would say that shot was impressive. Unlike the Globetrotters however, McCallum’s shot was pure flukiness at it’s best. Read more ›

   

• Taiwan Portrays Lions’ Suh as a Growling Man-Beast With a Taste for Human Flesh

  Next Media Animation is at it again, this time giving us their version of the Ndamukong Suh stomping incident from the Lions-Packers Thanksgiving Day game.  As per usual NMA’s perspective on the whole thing, including their portrayal of Detroit defensive tackle, is, shall we say, unique.

  I’m not the most astute observer, but I think I would have noticed that Suh, besides stomping on Packers guard Evan Dietrich-Smith’s arm, also ripped off the Green Bay player’s limbs like some sort of football playing zombie.  Also, following some intensive researching, I found nothing to suggest that Suh has ever a) lifted Browns QB Colt McCoy an unidentified Browns player by the helmet with one hand and smashed him repeatedly to the turf, or that b) he took out Jay Cutler with a blue orb conjured up with his awesome mind power.  But that’s not to say that it didn’t happen.  Anything is possible if you believe in the power of magic—Doug Henning taught us that. • Rec League Hockey Team May Have the Best Blue Jays Inspired Jerseys Out There

• This Three-Year-Old Has No Problem With Firing Andy Reid, Mild Cursing

  The expectations were high for the Philadelphia Eagles coming into this season, but injuries and underwhelming performances have them sitting at 4-7 with little to no chance at getting into the playoffs.  The predictable unrest amongst Eagles fans has boiled over and the chants of “Fire Andy!” are being heard loud and clear at Lincoln Financial Field, even if Andy Reid claims not to notice.

  With all that in mind, could this be Reid’s swansong with the Eagles?  Could they really fire the man that took them to four NFC Championships and the 2004 Super Bowl?  The Philly coach has been mired in losing seasons before and still came out at the end of the year with his job intact, but has his good favor with the Eagles front office run out?

  If that’s the case, if the Eagles are going to fire Reid after 13 seasons at the helm, I recommend they hire this precocious 3-year-old to lower the boom.  He’s clear, concise, cute, and not averse to some mild cursing.  I mean, look at that face and tell me that wouldn’t take the sting off getting canned.
