In Hindsight, Maybe this Oversized Winner’s Check Wasn’t Such a Good Idea

If you’re wondering why this oversized novelty check made out to Kyle Stanley wasn’t quite the brightest thing to do, well, it starts and ends with Stanley blowing a three-shot lead on the last hole of this past weekend’s Farmers Insurance Open at Torrey Pines.  Stanley eventually lost in a playoff to Brandt Snedeker, whose name is conspicuously not on that giant winner’s check.

Kind of jumped the gun on that one, didn’t ya fellas?  At least you didn’t just throw the check under the bleach…ah crap. The only thing worse would have been if the officials had hastily scratched Stanley’s name out and written in Snedeker’s right above it.  Actually, seeing how they lazily discarded their initial mistake, I’m kind of surprised they didn’t.
