• Better race: Daytona 500 or Junior and Keselowski’s footrace to a Port-O-Potty?

  You probably missed this race-within-a-race during Monday night’s Daytona 500, what with the giant fireball caused by Juan Pablo Montoya rear-ending a jet dryer full of fuel.  But with the race on hold for two hours while workers cleaned up the Montoya mess, leave it to Brad Keselowski and Dale Earnhardt Jr. to both realize they had to visit the little driver’s room at the same time.

  Of course this meant they had to engage in a footrace of epic proportions to the nearest available portable toilet.  Junior ended up the victor after drafting Keselowski for most of the race, then slightly bumping him when the two neared the Port-O-Potty.  Read more ›

  This may be the most unbelievable item you will read today, but according to an excerpt from Hank Haney’s new book, the Tiger Woods tell-all The Big Miss, Eldrick contemplated giving up his golf career to follow in his father’s footsteps by joining the prestigious Navy SEALS.  Tiger’s late father Earl was a Green Beret who served two tours of duty in Vietnam.

  The 2012 World Open of snooker is currently underway in Haikou, China, a fact I’m sure most of you probably didn’t know.  During a match between Thailand’s Thanawat Thirapongpaiboon and England’s Robert Milkins, Thirapongpaiboon executed what is arguably the flukiest shot in snooker history, as his final shot on the black ball jumped off the table, rode the rail without falling, and ended up dropping right into the corner pocket. • VIDEO: Vick Ballard’s first attempt at the 40-yard dash doesn’t go very well

  And by doesn’t go very well, we mean Ballard goes down in a heap at about the 10-yard mark, as well as crashing into a tripod, while the eyes of a ton of NFL coaches and scouts were focused squarely on the Mississippi State running back.  On the bright side, at least he stood out as the only guy to fall during his 40-year dash.  That’s gotta account for something, right?

  Personally, I think he just lost his footing, but I am sure there are those out there who will think the pressure got to him.  One thing I think we can all agree on is that his mishap was pretty funny, even if it was more than likely a very embarrassing moment for Ballard, and one he’d just as soon forget. • Cristiano Ronaldo reminds us he’s good at soccer with this unbelievable backheel goal

  Did I mention that it was a no-look backheel goal?  Probably should have because that makes Ronaldo’s effort that much more impressive.

  In all the time spent bashing his good looks, petulant attitude, and unquestionably douchebag behavior, we often forget that Cristiano Ronaldo is one of the best soccer players in the entire world.  Then he goes and does something like this to remind us of that fact.  Love him or hate him, the kid from Portugal can play.

  This no-look backheel goal he scored Sunday against Rayo Vallecano is absolutely incredible, not only because he scored it, but because he attempted it in the first place.  It is definitely one of those risk-reward shots, and while not as ill-conceived as Mario Balotelli’s failed backheel attempt, it still might have drawn the ire of fans and coaches had it not gone in.  But it did, so we can all just relax and revel in it’s beauty.
