Yes, it appears as though Jets backup QB Tim Tebow did agree to appear on ABC’s wildly successful reality show “The Bachelor,” but even though he did say yes to appearing on the show, there’s next to no chance that it will ever come to fruition.
Weird, but casting the polarizing Tim Tebow as the show’s eligible bachelor looking for love from a bevy of fairly attractive ladies may have been the only way I’d ever watch one minute of that dreadful program…and I’m not even a Tebow fan.
The show’s host Chris Harrison, while co-hosting “Access Hollywood Live,” revealed that he spoke to the Jets signal caller about the gig, and surprisingly Tebow said that he would do it. But as you’ll learn, a positive response doesn’t always mean that the dream will come to fruition.
Said Harrison (via The Christian Post)…
“I met about him becoming our next Bachelor, I think he’d be a great Bachelor,” Harrison said. “He did say yes, but he’d never do it. He has a little job called quarterback in the NFL.”
“They always say yes, but then it never happens,” he said.
And that really is a damn shame. While I never in a million years thought that a guy of such strong Christian faith as Tebow would ever willingly be involved in a show like “The Bachelor,” I firmly believe that Tebow would have made the show watchable and entertaining. He’s a young, good-looking, intriguing gentleman who seems to handle himself with affability and charm in front of a camera, without an ounce of pretension, phoniness, or smarm.
Bachelor producers should consider Jets current starting QB Mark Sanchez for next season’s show. He too is young handsome, famous, and has a way with the ladies, and if you listen to a large number of Jets fans, should have plenty of time to film the show somewhere around week 6 of the NFL season, when his starting job gets usurped by the aforementioned Tebow.
