Dirk Nowitzki absolutely butchers Springsteen’s ‘Born in the USA’ (VIDEO)

If you value your speakers and your eardrums, DO NOT turn up the volume.

It’s been an NBA kind of day around the old website here, so it seems only fitting we feature another NBA related post, albeit one that is quite a bit more fanciful and carefree than Dwight Howard’s airball free throw and Kobe’s terrifying death stare.

Enter Mavs forward Dirk Nowitzki.  The big German is a fave around these parts because he’s not averse to doing hilariously goofy things for the enjoyment of others (see here, here and here).  This time he’s trying his hand at singing Bruce Springsteen’s classic Born in the USA—despite the fact that he doesn’t know the lyrics—in something called Mavs Playeraoke.

Nice to see Disco Dirk’s dancing is just as bad as his singing.  Pretty sure that half of that song he sang in German, and the other half in garbled English.  I’m not up on The Boss’ tunes, but I can almost guarantee that there isn’t any reference to ham in the original Born in the USA, unlike the closing line in Nowitzki’s version.

Still better than anything Nickelback’s ever recorded.
