Roberto Luongo and Cory Schneider spoof their “rivalry” on TSN segment

Roberto Luongo 1The goalie situation in Vancouver is anything but settled, what with Roberto Luongo and Cory Schneider going back and forth as the number one netminder on the club. As it stands Schneider and Luongo have nearly split the goaltending duties right down the middle, appearing in 14 and 12 games respectively. Despite this ongoing competition, the two happen to be quite friendly, as evidenced by this video of the two spoofing their “rivalry” via a TSN produced segment that’s as heavy on the laughs as it is on the goalie’s bad acting. Fortunately for us there’s James Duthie, TSN’s equivalent to Daniel Day Lewis, minus the talent.

As usual the outtakes were funnier than anything found in the actual skit, but the hockey-inspired poetry reading was pretty boss. The only real problem I have with the whole thing was the stunt dummy they used as Cory Schneider’s stand in during the cart death maiming scene. That thing is the embodiment of pure nightmare fuel wrapped in a sweater of terror…

Sure they’re smiling now, but that’s only because the guys are trying to hide the fear that’s lurking behind their eyes.
