Wait, what did he just say?
Washington pitcher Gio Gonzalez pitched a splendid game Wednesday night against the Marlins, throwing six innings of two hit shutout ball in a 3-0 win over the Marlins. Gonzalez also hit a home run, the second of his career, and had the best quote of the young season so far, when discussing the cold weather he had to deal with in the nation’s capital and how difficult it was to get a feel for the ball.
Said Gonzalez to MASN broadcaster Bob Carpenter…
“It was definitely difficult, especially with this cold weather. It was tough to get a grip. I felt like I was making love to my hand. Just one of those things where I was constantly trying to find some grip some how, some way — the rosin bag, whatever, licking the fingers, but it felt good after that.”
If you didn’t know the context of this quote you’d probably be slightly offended at Gonzalez’s off color remark. Ah, who are we kidding, that quote is inappropriate in any context…and just as hilarious.
