Nothing gets under a pitcher’s skin more than a batter calling time during his windup. Usually nothing comes of the perceived slight, unless you’re Bryan Bullington, ace pitcher for the Hiroshima Toyo Carp and former first overall pick in the 2002 MLB draft, who wasn’t too pleased with Ryota Arai of the Hanshin Tigers when he called time as Bullington was preparing to pitch.
So Bullington did what any normal, rational pitcher would do in that situation…he threw at him.
He didn’t actually hit Arai—which was extremely fortunate for both players involved—but Bullington definitely got his message across when it comes to hitters calling timeout when he’s on the hill.
