Tim Tebow offered backup role with Ron Jaworski’s Arena Football League team

Tim TebowThe offers haven’t been pouring in for quarterback Tim Tebow since the Jets released him last month. In actuality the only offer the NFL’s most polarizing player has received has been from the Montreal Alouettes of the CFL, who own Tebow’s negotiating rights by the way, and that was to come in and compete for a spot as the backup QB to starter Anthony Calvillo. Not exactly a sweet deal for a guy who’s looking to stay in the NFL, and it was of little surprise to no one that the 25-year-old Florida Gator product declined the offer.

Which doesn’t bode well for Ron Jaworski, ESPN analyst and part-owner of the Philadelphia Soul of the Arena Football League, who have made a similar offer to Tebow for his services. While Soul QB Dan Raudabaugh remains entrenched as the team’s starting quarterback, Jaws thinks that playing in the up-tempo AFL would help Tebow with his mechanics, specifically his release, which the former Eagles quarterback described as “slow and methodical.”

From Philly.com…

“One [criticism] of Tebow is that he is slow and methodical,” Jaworski said. “He would be forced to quicken it up in this league and it would be good training for him. You can learn a lot in this league. It’s about processing information and getting the ball out . . . or you get whacked.”

“If Tim Tebow decides he wants to play in the Arena Football League,” Jaworski said, “I’d love to have him on the Philadelphia Soul.”

So far Jaworski has yet to hear back from Tebow, and despite his earnestness to have the former Broncos and Jets QB on his team, he probably shouldn’t wait by the phone to hear from Tebow or his agent. However, as the offseason drags on, and it becomes apparent that no team is willing to take a flyer on the unemployed Tebow, maybe he will take Jaworski up on his arena league offer. Hey, playing in the arena league worked wonders for Kurt Warner, and Jaws thinks there’s no reason it wouldn’t do the same for Tim Tebow and his awful throwing motion.

I hope Mr. Tebow takes the offer with the Soul and goes on to become such a winning QB that NO ONE could ever say another derogatory thing about him and his ability to play his chosen football position! May God continue to bless him with all he needs and give him his hearts desire.
