• Here’s the 2013 edition of ‘One Shining Moment’ that will give you chills

  As is the tradition, CBS ended their coverage of the NCAA tournament with a video montage set to “One Shining Moment.” And it never fails to raise goosebumps on the arms of college basketball fans who watch it. The 3-minute clip runs the gamut of emotions, and with the sultry sounds of the late Luther Vandross in the background, is the perfect way to finish off another memorable tournament, which culminated in the fantastic title game between Louisville and Michigan. For the six or less of you who don’t know, the Cardinals won 82-76 in a highly entertaining and frenetic game.

• Oklahoma high school basketball player scores game winning bucket…for the other team

  Most high school kids dream of scoring the game winning basket for their school basketball team, especially in a do-or-die, must win playoff game. For Hugo (Okla.) High School guard Trey Johnson, that dream turned into a nightmare of epic proportions when he made the game winning layup in the Oklahoma Class 3A state quarterfinals…for the opposing team.

  With his Hugo team up 37-36 over the heavily favored Millwood High School, and possession of the ball out of bounds with a scant 3.7 seconds left on the clock, Hugo tossed the ball on the inbound play to Johnson, who dribbled the ball and made the uncontested layup. The reason it was uncontested, obviously, was that he was taking a shot at his own basket, a rather major detail considering the circumstances.

• Oklahoma’s benchwarmers got so excited by a 12-point lead they broke out the air guitars

  There’s excited (think your reaction upon seeing your first naked breast), there’s super excited (think getting Barbie’s dream house on Christmas morning), and then there’s “break out the air guitars” excited (think watching the Sooners starters nail a bucket to give you a 12-point lead over Big 12 rival Texas midway through the second half).

  So yeah, the Oklahoma men’s basketball team’s benchwarmers got totally pumped when they went up by a dozen over the Longhorns Monday night, en route to a 73-67 win, so much so that they broke out the double air guitars. You’d think a couple of dudes jamming out side by side would be cool, and if they were both as adept at strumming the air guitar as the guy on the right is it would be, but the little guy on the left has absolutely no clue how to play air guitar. Looks more like he picked up an air cello and tried playing it like a guitar.  Trust me, not even Air Guitar World Champion Justin “Nordic Thunder” Howard could pull that move off. Read more ›
