• Guess who fared better when a campus bus collided with a Texas Tech football player?

  Texas Tech football player Austin Stewart was cruising around campus on his scooter Wednesday morning when he was hit by a campus shuttle bus.  Luckily the junior safety wasn’t seriously hurt, and his injuries are being reported as minor, according to RedRaiderSports.com.

  As you can see from this picture, the same can’t be said for the bus, which came out on the losing end of the collision.  Apparently a 6-foot-2, 200-pound football player on a scooter is not match for a five ton bus.

  Keep in mind that this wasn’t a standard size city bus, but rather one that many schools used to shuttle students back and forth across campus.  That doesn’t make the fact that Stewart fared better in a collision than the shuttle bus did any less impressive. Read more ›

   

• USC football players’ campus tour included crashing classes in full uniform (VIDEO)

  Several of the USC Trojans football players, including Heisman Trophy hopeful Matt Barkley, partook in a campus tour recently that included posing for pictures with fellow students, as well as stops in the cafeteria, chemistry, and organic chemistry classes.

  All while in full uniform, cleats included.

  The professors seemed rather unfazed at the sight of a gaggle of football players in pads and helmets entering their classroom en masse, but I’m sensing that this isn’t’ the first time players from the football team have pulled off a stunt like this.  One of them even answered a question in organic chemistry—possibly safety T.J. McDonald—and according to QB Matt Barkley, his teammate nailed the right answer.  Knowing how difficult a course organic chemistry is, that may be more impressive than any feat performed on a football field. • Taiwanese animation takes on the Bobby Petrino scandal for the uninformed masses

  If you’ve been having trouble keeping up with the Bobby Petrino scandal because you’re either too lazy or just don’t have the time, your worries are over, because Next Media Animation (NMA.tv)  has given the Petrino kerfuffle it’s full and undivided attention, and their version of events is surprisingly accurate.

  Well, except for the part about Petrino’s mistress Jessica Dorell giving the former Arkansas football coach a hummer while he’s piloting  a motorcycle, because not only is performing a sex act on a moving Harley Davidson extremely unsafe, it’s almost a near impossibility.  Read more ›

   

• VIDEO: Auburn recruit snubs Clemson over their lack of a nearby Chick-fil-A

  Four-star recruit Cassanova McKinzy had a tough decision to make on National Signing Day as the 6-foot-2 linebacker prospect had whittled down his choices to Auburn and Clemson, guaranteeing that whatever his choice, he would be playing for a team named the Tigers.  In the end McKinzy went with Auburn over Clemson for all the usual reasons, plus one tasty, mouth watering, waffle fries related one.

  Like a lot of folks, Cassanova loves him some Chick-fil-A, and Auburn just so happens to have one of the restaurants right there on campus, while Clemson does not (or so he thought), which weighed heavily in McKinzy’s decision process. Read more ›

• Georgia Bulldogs Fans: First in School Spirit, Last in Proper Spelling

  There has to be more to this story, because I doubt very seriously that a Georgia fan would not know how to spell Dawgs.  Perhaps it’s an inside joke, or just a clever way to ensure the ESPN camera focuses in on him.  Or maybe, just maybe, this guy really can’t spell worth a damn. • VIDEO: It Was Raining ESPN SkyCams at Friday Night’s Insight Bowl

  Late in Friday night’s Insight Bowl between Iowa and Oklahoma, ESPN’s overhead camera, known as the SkyCam, broke loose and came crashing down to the turf, nearly taking out a few of the Hawkeyes players, with WR Marvin McNutt dangerously close to being taken out by the falling camera and the cables following it.

  Luckily no one was hurt, which allowed the ESPN commentators to have a little fun at the downed camera’s expense.  The game was delayed for a bit as technicians tended to the broken piece of equipment, and eventually it was dragged from the field of play, a rather ignominious end to a dutiful ESPN employee.  It’s unfortunate that SkyCam had to go out this way, what with it being only three days from retirement and all.

  Damn shame when you think about it.

• MSU Coach Mark Dantonio’s Prank With Live Gator Goes About as Well as Expected

  Michigan State head football coach Mark Dantonio thought he’d play a bit of a prank on his team following their Thursday afternoon practice as they get ready to participate in the 2012 Outback Bowl by having a live, 7-foot-long alligator brought to the practice field, and to complete the gag, Dantonio had one the gator’s handlers dress up as a Spartans player and attempt to wrestle the beast.

  Needless to say, as with most pranks involving live animals with a snout full of razor sharp teeth, things did not go well.  No, they most certainly did not. Read more ›
