The two Hardrock MMA 43 combatants were seemingly knocked out cold, but as you will see in the video, both were able to get to their feet and leave under their own power. Officials ruled the bout a no-contest, and both men were paid their fight bonuses, which only seems fair.

Skip to the 1:30 mark to see the rare double knockout…

Apparently the latch on the door had been damaged during an earlier fight, and staff had deemed the door was fixed and in proper working order. Yeah, good call on that one, fellas.

If you like karate, rap, a whole bunch of white people, really bad hair, even worse outfits, and some questionable sexuality, then you’re in for a treat. I swear that the entire cast of this video, including the Seegers, went into the Witness Protection Program shortly after releasing this video, never to be seen or heard from again. Quite the ignominious end for the writers of this epic rap that included this dopest of dope rhymes…

We got a parakeet,

The only way that video could have been even more 1980s-ish would be if it had cameos from Michael Dudikoff, Alf, and the cast of The Facts of Life.

With his team up 1-0 over Nottingham Forest, the 22-year-old Rodriguez was awarded a penalty kick and a chance to put his squad up by two. Everything went smashing, right up until the actual kick, which went about as poorly as you could imagine. Actually, imagine if you will the worst thing that could happen on a penalty kick, and I bet that what took place here is still much, much worse. Rodriguez’s shot sails just a bit wide… and by a bit wide I mean it missed the net by about 50 feet, give or take. Hey, cut the guy some slack—it’s not like he was aiming at a stationary object measuring eight feet high and 24 feet wide.

Oh wait…never mind.

(Ed. note: yes I am aware the Rodriguez slipped as he took his kick, so don’t point that out because it only detracts from the hilarity of the whole penalty kick fail.)

Don’t feel too bad for Rodriguez and his bruised ego, as he went on to score ten minutes later, ending up accounting for both Clarets’ goals in their 2-0 win. Funny, I’m fairly confident that the vast majority of people will remember Rodriguez more for his terrifically bad penalty kick than his goal scoring efforts.

I know this is skirting the edges of being a sports-related subject, but I’m sure someone, somewhere considers dwarf tossing a sport, so deal with it. Plus, I rarely, if ever, get to write a story about dwarfs and/or little people, even though they’re some of my most favorite people in the whole wide world, so let me have my moment…okay?

Recently in the town of Windsor, Ontario, a strip club known as “Leopard’s Lounge” hosted a special guest for a night of fun that for a change didn’t feature a bevy of naked ladies writhing about on stage to the musical stylings of Def Leppard. No, this night of revelry was all about some good, clean dwarf tossing, with Bradley Kalbefleisch, otherwise known as “Tripod,” laying claim as the show’s headliner.

From all accounts the night was a success, in so much that Bradley didn’t suffer any crippling injuries, and the proprietors of Leopard’s pocketed a rather princely sum of money from the gate receipts and the rather large amount of alcohol consumed by the club’s patrons. The lounge holds 250 people, and on this night the bar is constantly filled to capacity. All told some 1000 customers will shuffle through the doors for the chance to toss the 4-foot-8 Tripod as far as they can.

While Kalbefleisch’s payment for a night of being thrown around by a bunch of drunken strangers is unknown, chances are that he’ll make a decent amount for a night’s work. The man known as Tripod also has no problems playing the role of human discus, but rather embraces his rather unusual choice of profession, as well he should. Safety is paramount, and Kalbefleisch seems to enjoy his work.

From the Toronto Star…

Club manager Barry Maroon chalks up controversy about the event to misunderstanding. People imagine little people getting hurled into walls, breaking bones. But Kalbefleisch is an entrepreneur, an athlete, who contacted the club about the event. When he’s thrown, he knows how to land it.

“We are so careful about everything,” says Maroon. “There is no danger factor. Your roadside hockey game would have more of a danger factor than this.”

A local MPP, Sandra Pupatello, tried to get dwarf-tossing banned by Queen’s Park after Tripod’s first visit to Leopard’s back in 2003. Her effort failed miserably.

So, should we consider dwarf-tossing a degrading, demeaning event to little people, even if the dwarf being tossed is a willing participant who enjoys his work? If he or she has no problem with it, why should we, especially if it seems the guys doing the actual throwing have nothing but respect and admiration for someone like Tripod?

“I have nothing but respect for this dwarf. If he was around, I’d buy him a beer,” a participant says.

Live and let live, that’s what I always say.

[Thanks to reader Neil for the tip]

All in all a moment of television gold that old Chuck would just as soon forget.

According to Chuck Giampa’s expert opinion, the only thing going on inside the mind of a judge is a whole lot of nothing.

However, when teammates get into right in the middle of the game, that’s a whole other animal.

Such an event took place during a game between Bury and Yeovil in England’s League One recently, when teammates Steven Schumacher and Giles Coke tussled over who should get to take Bury’s penalty kick. Even though Coke was the one fouled on the play, Schumacher is the team’s designated penalty taker, a point that Coke probably is aware of, but chooses to ignore. The pair fight over the ball like a couple of petulant children, until three teammates come in to separate them.

Schumacher ended up taking the penalty kick, which was good, putting his team up 3-1 (they would go on to beat Yeovil 3-2).

I’ll bet $100 they don’t fight like this over who gets to pick up the tab for the post-game beers.

But it matters not. What matters is seeing the guy pictured here get knocked out in spectacular fashion with a powerful straight right hand followed by a kick to the face for good measure as he’s going down. He gets hit so hard that he totally bypasses getting killed and turns right into a zombie—that’s how brutal a knockout this is.

This KO video may be older than dirt, but like a fine wine and Elle Macpherson, it only gets better with age.
