This had all the makings of an epic knockout, which in a way it was I guess, with the only caveat being that the guy performing the knockout flying kick was also the guy who got knocked out. Yes, the rarely seen flying switch-kick self knockout in all it’s beautiful glory.
The odd MMA fail took place this past Saturday in a bout between Jeremie Capony and Dan Lariviere during the Empire Fight League 4 in Montreal. Lariviere is the poor sap who gets knocked out by his own hand, after failing to land his switch-kick to Capony’s head. He slams the down on the mat hard on his shoulder, seemingly unconscious on impact. Read more ›

MSG Network thought it would be a good idea to send out reporter Jill Martin to ask former heavyweight champ Mike Tyson several inane questions during halftime of the Knicks-Kings game. Somehow they forgot that Tyson’s brain doesn’t work quite as well as most people’s brains do, and rapid-fire responses can sometimes trip him up, which can often lead to some accidental profanity by Tyson.
So that little “dumb sh*t” slip-of-the-tongue by Tyson should have come as no surprise to anyone, least of all the MSG crew or Martin. And apparently it didn’t, because she doesn’t bat an eye when the champ casually curses during their interview. Read more ›

Judging by the picture of assistant referee Frederick Geldhof lying on the pitch in obvious pain after being hit in the head while officiating a Belgian Jupiler League match last Saturday between Lierse and Zulte Waregem, you’d think he was nailed by a rock, beer can, car keys, or some other projectile designed to do some serious damage. The video is even more dramatic, with the Belgian referee stumbling 6-7 steps before dropping to the ground, until a player rushes to his aid.
A shocking, tense, frightening moment to say the least…until you find out what exactly Geldhof was hit in the side of the head with. Then you start to wonder if Geldhof got an A+ in his high school drama class for exceptional emoting. He looked just like a young William Shatner out there, minus the toupee. Read more ›

Olympic champion Matt Grevers won the 100m backstroke at the Missouri Grand Prix on Saturday, and shortly after the medal presentation, called his girlfriend, fellow swimmer Annie Chandler, up to the podium to help him celebrate…or so she thought.
Instead Grevers dropped to one knee and proposed, which stunned the clueless Chandler, who had no idea the proposal was coming forthwith. Even when she was asked by meet organizers to assist in the medal ceremony, a request she thought was somewhat odd, Chandler still had no clue what her boyfriend was up to.
Grevers wanted his proposal to be unique, and after finally securing the blessing of Chandler’s father, former NFL player Thomas Chandler, and with his family watching in the stands, set his plan in motion. Give the guy credit, it was most definitely a unique way to ask your girlfriend for her hand in marriage, and much classier than ordering a bride off the Internet. Trust me, I know. Read more ›
