How great is it that truTV is broadcasting a portion of the NCAA Tournament? For one thing it means more televised Charles Barkley, and we all know that the more airtime Sir Charles receives, a better place the world becomes.
To wit, check out Barkley’s response to Ernie Johnson plugging the show Hardcore Pawn, which was set to follow truTV’s March Madness coverage. Chuck lets it be know that he’s a fan of something hardcore that starts with a P and ends with an N and rhymes with corn. Read more ›

TNT’s Ernie Johnson “interviewing” LeBron about his receding hairline is pretty funny, but not quite as funny as watching Kenny, Charles, Shaq and Ernie carry-on about it afterwards. I find their laughter intoxicating. Read more ›
Recently on TNT’s Inside the NBA, the guys were discussing Magic center Dwight Howard’s regular-season NBA record 39 free throw attempts against the Golden State Warriors this past Thursday. Howard was good on 21 of the 39 attempts from the charity line, and despite the Warriors’ attempt at incorporating the old “Hack-a-Shaq” routine against the Magic superstar, they still fell 117-109.
Speaking of Shaq, it was mentioned on the broadcast that he too was sent to the free throw line 39 times once, only Shaq’s came in the 2000 NBA finals against the Pacers. O’Neal made 18 of his 39 attempts, and according to the Big Aristotle’s math skills, that equates to a free throw shooting percentage of over 50%. Read more ›
Not only does it rhyme with sh*t, it was sh*t. Hey, you knew Shaq would slip-up and swear on-air eventually, so it was probably best to get it out of the way early. Read more ›
When Charles Barkley talks, people listen. This can be attributed to Barkley’s willingness not to pull punches when asked for his opinion on certain things. Throw in the fact that he’s an honest and funny person at heart, and it’s no wonder that interviewers are quick to sit down with Sir Charles and pepper him with questions on a vast array of subjects.
The TNT basketball analyst was a recent guest of Mike Missanelli on 97.5 the Fanatic in Philly, and one of the many items Missanelli asked Charles to expound upon was the sweeping phenomenon that is Broncos QB Tim Tebow. Judging by Barkley’s glib response, he’s had just about enough of Tebowmania. Read more ›
Tiger Woods returns to golf this weekend after a lengthy layoff, teeing it up at the WGC-Bridgestone Invitational. Woods hasn’t played a full round since the Masters in April, and his world ranking has dropped to No. 28, but there’s still a large faction of Tiger’s friends and fans that hope he can recapture his form and make a run at Jack Nicklaus’ record 18 major titles.
Actually, there’s not as many friends rooting for Tiger’s comeback as there used to be. First he parted ways with longtime caddie, confidant, and pal Steve Williams, a man who Woods stood up for as Best Man at Williams’ New Zealand wedding, and now two more of the golfer’s friends have seemingly ended their friendship with the troubled Woods. With the recent news of Phoenix Suns president Rick Welts and former Villanova hoops player Will Sheridan revealing that they’re gay, much has been written about the possibility of an athlete coming out while still playing professionally. In 2011, the thought of a pro athlete announcing their homosexuality publicly shouldn’t be an issue, but it is. That being said, when a sports figure finally does come out to the world, let’s all hope that his teammates, and opponents, follow Charles Barkley’s lead.
Yes, that Charles Barkley. You know, for a guy who sometimes butchers the English language, and has had his own share of well-know public transgressions, the basketball player turned NBA announcer sure has a lot of common sense when it comes to matters such as this. Read more ›
During this year’s NBA playoffs, Kenny Smith of TNT’s “Inside the NBA” has been using the giant video screen in studio for something called “Kenny’s Pictures,” in which Smith breaks down plays and whatnot from that night’s playoff games. The segments work well, so long as you don’t listen to the ribbing Smith takes from TNT colleagues Ernie Johnson and Charles Barkley.
This time though, the guys do very little talking as Smith makes the long walk back to “the wall.” Instead, they let the screen do the work, as Smith gets pranked by a giant, ghastly, screaming figure that looks eerily like Celine Dion.
Video follows the jump… Read more ›
