Of course the guy chugged that brew down despite having a baseball sitting in it. The only way someone throws away a full beer is if they find a mouse or human foot floating in it. A baseball with some dirt and pine tar on it is about as organic as it gets.
So this Padres fan in the second row goes for a foul ball in the bottom of the 7th, and after the ball ricochets around for a bit, it ends up in the guy’s beer. Earlier today word came out that Beastie Boys founding member, and music icon, Adam Yauch, aka MCA, passed away at the age of 47 after a nearly three year battle with cancer. Yauch was born in Brooklyn and if you’re a fan of the legendary rap group you know they were proud of their heritage, and often rapped about their New York roots.
To honor Yauch, the New York Mets starters have decided to use strictly songs from the Beastie Boys catalogue as their walk-up music for their Friday game against the Arizona Diamondbacks. No word on which songs which players are using, but according to Anthony DiComo, Mets beat writer for MLB.com, David Wright has requested Brass Monkey, from the group’s classic Licensed to Ill album.
From DiComo’s Twitter account…
And the bit about Wright…
Say what you will about the Mets, but this is one classy gesture from the organization.
