• Rangers fans beat out little kid for foul ball which leads to much sadness and crying

• Here’s Joba Chamberlain Posing With a Giant Wrench

  Yankees pitcher Joba Chamberlain, who’s on the DL following Tommy John surgery, tweeted this photo of him holding this ginormous wrench during a visit to the Lincoln (NE) Fire Department.  If you didn’t know that was Joba Chamberlain, admit it, you’d be scared of this guy.  The tattoos, the sinister look, the large wrench ready to pummel you to death, or at the very least beat you senseless with. • File Under Things I Never Thought I’d Hear: Nick Swisher to Release Children’s Album

  Yes, that Nick Swisher, New York Yankees outfielder, is set to become a full-fledged recording artist, when he releases his debut album Believe, a 12-song children’s album, on August 9.

  Didn’t see that coming, did ya?

  Now before you go ragging on Swisher for doing something that smells a little on the strange side, know this—the Yankees all-star is donating a portion of the sales of the CD to his charitable foundation, Swish’s Wishes, an organization “dedicated to enriching the lives and lifting the spirits of children facing vital health issues.”

  How very admirable.  No, seriously.  Makes me feel like an ass for all those nasty things I ever said/thought about Swisher.  Just when you think you have someone figured out, BAM, they turn around and do something like this that totally changes my opinion of them.  Nick Swisher did just that with this move. • David Price Cashes in On Being Pitcher Who Gave Up Jeter’s 3000th Hit

  Tampa Bay Rays lefty ace David Price was the pitcher of record for Derek Jeter’s milestone 3000th hit.  While most ballplayers would rather not be known as the guy on the wrong end of so-and-so’s historic moment, Price has no problem being the guy who served up Jeter’s 3000th.  In fact, the talented southpaw signed a deal with Steiner Sports to autograph, along with Derek Jeter, memorabilia that will be printed with the inscription “I Gave Up DJ’s 3K.”

  Shrewd business move if you ask me.

• CNN Was All Over Derek Jeter’s Magical 3000th Home Run

  Derek Jeter has 3000 home runs?  How long have I been asleep?

  You’d think that the CNN staffer responsible for the headline banners would have known that Derek Jeter was gunning for his 3000th hit, what with all the other traditional media outlets running stories upon stories of the Yankees captain’s chase at history.

• Here’s What Joba Chamberlain’s Arm Looks Like After Tommy John Surgery

  Yankees reliever Joba Chamberlain underwent the dreaded Tommy John surgery this past Thursday, and by all accounts the procedure went well.  Chamberlain faces anywhere from 12-18 months recovery before he will be able to pitch again, but as has been the case with other pitchers who have, the portly reliever should be able to return to the New York lineup without any lingering effects.

• Yankees Catcher Francisco Cervelli Newest Soprano in the Vienna Boys Choir

  Oh Francisco Cervelli, a nation of men weep for you and your junk.  That is as clear a shot to the nuts as I have ever seen, and I’ve seen a lot.  I pray he was wearing a protective cup, and even if he was, that still hurts like hell—even moreso depending on the size of your package.  And having never seen Cervelli’s dong, I’ll just go ahead and assume it’s bigger than mine.

  The Yankees catcher was on the receiving end of this bean ball to the bean balls (score!) during Wednesday night’s game against the Red Sox.  Flush on the nuts, down like a rock went Cervelli.  As the NESN announcers so aptly put it, “There’s no way to analyze that…hurts though.”

• Torii Hunter Destroys Yankees Fan While Trying to Make Home Run Robbing Catch

  Via @JimmyTraina comes this video of Angels RF Torii Hunter flying over the right field wall trying to rob Yankees 2nd baseman Robinson Cano of a home run. Hunter comes up empty, but at least he got to destroy this elderly Yankees fan in the process.

  Gotta love Hunter’s effort. Hopefully the guy that the Angels outfielder took out is OK—old people break hips like they’re made out of uncooked spaghetti.
