Pittsburgh Steelers new throwback uniforms are an assault on good taste
The Pittsburgh Steelers unveiled the throwback jerseys they’ll be sporting for the upcoming 2012 NFL season, and this time around they went with the 1934 version of their uniforms. The team will be wearing their 80th anniversary throwback uniform for two games, and with any luck, neither of which will be broadcast on national TV. Back in those days the Steelers were known as the Pirates, zeppelins were a popular form of transportation, and sports fashion was an afterthought.
How else do you explain these horrid throwbacks as modeled by Isaac Redman? The stripes are bad enough—unless bumble bees as fashion icons were the thing back in the 30s—but what is up with those tiled numbers? Seriously, these things are a bigger disaster than the Hindenburg.
