  This may be the most unbelievable item you will read today, but according to an excerpt from Hank Haney’s new book, the Tiger Woods tell-all The Big Miss, Eldrick contemplated giving up his golf career to follow in his father’s footsteps by joining the prestigious Navy SEALS.  Tiger’s late father Earl was a Green Beret who served two tours of duty in Vietnam.

• VIDEO: Fan Yells “Mashed Potatoes” After Tiger Woods Tee Shot at Chevron

  Tiger Woods finally won a tournament this past weekend, taking the Chevron World Challenge by one stroke over Zach Johnson. It was Tiger’s first win in two years and 26 tournaments since that fateful Thanksgiving when his ex-wife Elin took a 9-iron to his head, neck and Escalade.

  Woods didn’t dominate this tournament like he used to when he was winning big on a regular basis.  In fact, the former world’s No.1 player was a stroke down with two holes to play, but managed to birdie No.17 and 18 for the come from behind victory.  No doubt that after tying things up with Johnson on the 17th, Tiger was buoyed by the guy that hollered “mashed potatoes” after his tee shot on 18. • Fan Vote Will Decide Which Golfer Appears on Cover of Tiger Woods PGA Tour 13

  Remember when EA Sports’ Tiger Woods PGA Tour video game could get by with having just Tiger on the cover.  Yeah, that’s so 2010 it’s not funny.  Last year Woods shared the cover with Rory McIlroy, and this year’s version didn’t even feature a golfer, just a shot of iconic Augusta National in conjunction with the franchise’s Masters edition.

  And this year will be no different, as EA Sports has set up an online fan vote via Facebook to determine who shares the cover of Tiger Woods PGA Tour 13 with Eldrick.

• What Has Two Thumbs and Loves Tiger Woods? This Guy

  Tiger Woods returns to golf this weekend after a lengthy layoff, teeing it up at the WGC-Bridgestone Invitational.  Woods hasn’t played a full round since the Masters in April, and his world ranking has dropped to No. 28, but there’s still a large faction of Tiger’s friends and fans that hope he can recapture his form and make a run at Jack Nicklaus’ record 18 major titles.

  The dismantling of the legend of Tiger Woods continues, as the former world No.1 golfer will find himself out of the top 10 in the world golf rankings for the first time since April 6, 1997, when he was ranked No.13.

  Of course, Woods went on to win the 1997 Masters a week later, and over the next 14 years would reign as the best golfer in the world, as he chased Jack Nicklaus’ record of 18 major championships.  Now Tiger would just be happy with a win in any tournament he enters—his last victory came 18 months ago at the Australian Masters—but with the way his body seems to be failing him, that seems a longshot at best.   Which means that unless you’re an avid golfer looking to improve your swing with the help of the one and only Tiger Woods, this app won’t be for you.  Too bad too—seeing that I could really have used Tiger’s guidance in the area of picking up homely Perkins waitresses.

  Alas, unless he’s stuck on a magazine cover, Woods is all about golf these days…save for his latest (alleged) fling with one Alyse Lahti Johnston.  So yeah, his new iPhone app is golf related, and golf related only, which is a huge letdown if you ask me.  Plus it costs like $10, which is outrageous for an app, even one involving Tiger Woods.
